Featherstone Lions U14s get the junior season underway this weekend as they take on Methley Warriors in the National Cup, in what promises to be a tough opening test.
The Lions face a strong Methley side who currently compete a league above, giving our young Lions a challenging encounter right at the start of the campaign. It’s exactly the kind of test that will help set standards and measure progress as the season begins.
With both the U16s and U18s receiving byes in the opening round, all eyes will be on the U14s as they proudly represent the club and kick off the junior programme for 2026.
Head coach Michael McPhale is looking forward to the challenge and is confident in the attitude of his squad, stating that the players will “give everything they have on the day, work hard for each other and embrace the challenge in front of them.”
Whatever the result, this fixture marks an important step in the development of this young group and another opportunity to showcase the effort, commitment and spirit that continues to run through the Lions junior setup.
Good luck to the U14s as they get the season started 🦁💪 #UTL
