After having an early 10 - 0 lead The Lions allowed the visitors to draw leval early in the secound half. Lions rallied to take the points, led by some strong running by Theo walker and Tyler Lindsay scoring two late tries. The tough tackling Owen cording made a big impression in the later stages as he made a crucial tackle after being brought on by the coaches.
Lions started the game strongly after Lindsay went close George Grey showed good pace to race over for his first try of the season, George who has been having sprint training lessons from Mario Barker left the the visitors defence for dead 4-0. Lions kept up there good start as Alf Morgan’s clever chip saw the pacey lewis Dyas swoop and pick up to finish off a fine move Dyas also added the extras 10 - 0. Lions had enough chances to put siddal to bed but the last pass didn't stick. Cameron Wick went on a 50 yd touchline run after a superb Conner Lawrie hit. Lions had a man in the bin for gobbing off. Siddal took advantage of this to score a try a goal 10 - 6 On the stroke of half time the Lions defence was again put under a lot of pressure but Lions held firmto lead at half time. A string of stupid pens gave siddal the chance to leval the scores with a try wide out 10 - 10. Lions defence had to be spot on for a spell and it was, they then hit the lead as fast hands saw jack Spurr grandson of former rovers legend Bob Spurr finish off in style 14 10. Walker and Lindsey kept Lions pressure up with there strong running in the middle of the park before a Carlisle chip to the corner led to Marley Rooney swooping for the ball to grab the match winning try 18 10. In the last few mins spurr pulled off a try saving tackle then Cording made his big hit as the ref blew for full time. All lions players deserve a mention while Riley barker deserves praise for selling the raffle prize.
