YJL U15S DIVISION 1
This was a better display than last weeks woefull loss to Birstall. With a bit more belief in themselves and cut out the stupid errors Lions could have come away with the 2pts. As one of the teams tipped to be in the running for the honours this season the hosts put Lions straight on the rack. Having a try disallowed in the first set of six, Though it wasnt long before Siddal more pressure resulted in a try, converted 0 - 6. Lions Hit back as a Max Hobson bomb was dropped by the home side and Ben Smith followed up to score for Lions. Hobson landing a superb conversio to leval the scores 6 - 6. Lions were now on top with Ethan Crossley having a superb game along with Lewis Knight the Lions kept up the pressure. Lewis Paviour made a superb solo run and Jack Omarr did some hard yards in the middle of the park. As siddal cam eback into the game Hobson made a superb pick up and clearing run from a siddal chip on the last tackle. Seth Emery made a superb cover tackle as lions were split open down the middle then Dan Hetherington made a big hit out on the flank but the home sides pressure led to them eventually scoring a converted try. 6 - 12. With secounds remaining on the refs clock the hosts scored a fine try as crisp handling saw them score on the stroke of half time 6 -16. Lions started the second half well with Roby Cumiskey making a welcome return from his head injury, he lifted his side with a superb run and clever chip forcing a siddal knock on near there line. After Kean Fisher, Crossley and Omarr hammered at the home line Cumiskey went solo to evade 4 players, grabbing a fine close range try. Hobson tagged on the conversion 12 -16. A superb big hit by Knight saw Siddal lose the ball and give Lions the scrum feed but a basic mistake from the scrum saw Lions loose pass going into touch. The hosts took full advantage by going 50 yards to score in the corner. 12 - 20. This basic mistake was the game breaker. Despite Finley Greenwood giving another good defensive display making a string of tackles Siddal wrapped up the scoring with a chip over the Lions defence to finish off the game full time 12 - 24. Lions can take some positives from this loss but they need to cut out the pens and stupid mistakes. Next weekend they host Newsome Panthers in the Yorkshire league challenge cup. Lions under
