Millpond Stadium played host to a fantastic evening of junior rugby league last night as Featherstone Lions welcomed the Austrian Tourist Wanderers Australia to take on our U13s and U14s sides.
Both matches proved to be highly competitive and were ultimately double victories for the visiting Australians, but the results told only part of the story. Our young Lions showed tremendous character, effort and resilience, never giving in and competing right to the final whistle. The experience of playing against touring international opposition was invaluable and will undoubtedly benefit our players as they continue their development.
The evening was about far more than the scores, providing an amazing experience for our junior players, coaches and families alike. It was brilliant to see such a strong crowd in attendance, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere and making it a night to remember for everyone involved.
We would like to thank all the Australian players, coaching staff, parents and supporters, who were incredibly friendly throughout their visit. The feedback we received about the club, both during their training session on Sunday and across the games last night, was extremely positive and greatly appreciated.
Events like this highlight what Featherstone Lions is all about — community, development, and building connections through rugby league. We hope this marks the beginning of a strong and lasting relationship with the Wanderers, who will always be welcome at Featherstone Lions.
