Featherstone Lions ARLFC are proud to be the UK training base for the Jamaican Women’s National Rugby League programme, marking an exciting milestone for the club and its facilities.

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome the Rugby League Jamaica Reggae Warriors to Millpond Stadium for their first UK-based training camp. The session marked the beginning of what we hope will be a long and successful partnership, supporting the growth of the women’s game on an international stage.

The players were put through their paces both on and off the field, including strength and conditioning sessions at Featherstone Weightlifting Club, showcasing the strong links between local clubs and elite-level sport within the town.

Featherstone Lions are incredibly proud to be home to UK-based Jamaican women’s rugby league players and to provide a base where the squad can train, develop, and prepare for future international competitions. Supporting the growth of women’s rugby league — both domestically and internationally — is something the club is passionate about.

We look forward to hosting many more training sessions in the months ahead and following the progress of this talented squad as they continue their journey. We are also excited about the opportunity to host international fixtures at Millpond Stadium in the future, bringing top-level women’s rugby league to Featherstone.

This partnership highlights the club’s ambition, community spirit, and commitment to developing the game at all levels — locally, nationally, and internationally.
