Featherstone Lions have completed their first season back in the National Conference League, marking an important step forward for the club after a turbulent 2023 campaign.
Following a difficult year in which the Lions were removed from the league due to the non-fulfilment of fixtures, the club successfully appealed and were reinstated for the 2024 season. Returning to the NCL was never going to be easy, but the focus from day one was clear: rebuild, regroup, and complete the season the right way.
Head Coach Darren Fisher has worked wonders in putting a competitive squad together under challenging circumstances. While results did not always go the Lions’ way on the field, this season was never just about league position. The priority was fulfilling every fixture, restoring pride in the shirt, and laying strong foundations for the future.
Completing the full season is a huge achievement for everyone involved and represents a major milestone in the club’s recovery. The experience gained this year will be invaluable as the Lions look ahead, with the coming seasons expected to see the emergence of several exciting junior players progressing through the club.
The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Darren Fisher, his fellow coaches, and every player who pulled on a Featherstone Lions shirt this season. Their commitment, effort, and belief have helped put the Lions back on a positive path.
The future is bright, and this season will be remembered as the one where the rebuild truly began.
