Featherstone Lionesses Exit WRLA Cup Following Semi-Final Defeat to Methley Warriors

12/03/2023

WRLA CHALLENGE CUP SEMI FINAL   Lionesses  went crashing out of the cup after leading 16- 4 early in the second half. Young Having only 2 subsitutes this Lionesses team who's oldest player was just 20 put up a good fight but finally run out of steam. Take nothing away from the visitors as a superb last 30 mins saw them run in 28  points.Maisie Pease  scored lions opening try  with  Ellamia Anderson landing  a superb touchline conversion 6 0.  The visitors hit back with A try in the corner 6 4. After a super Emily heaps chip over which the visitors hacked dead, Second rower Lilly williames made a fine solo run only to be tackled inches short of the line, this set up the lions next try as they increased their lead when top scorer  Alyssa   Courtney crashed over for a try from acting half, Heaps adding the conversion 12 4. Stand off  Heaps then went on a fine 50 yd solo run but was held short on the stroke of half time. Jess lee made a superb big hit to stop a methley player. Lions started the 2nd half strong and saw heaps go on  a fine solo run to send Lily Williames over in the for a great try 16 4. This should have put the game to bed but missed tackles a number of attacking mistakes and some very dubious desions by the ref gave the methley the chance to get and in the game and they took advantage to score some good tries to run out worthy winners. Despite Millie Bell giving a superb display for lions it was the visitors who inflicted lions first ever cup defeat for a long while.  A Gallant effort from the young Lionesses against the much older more experieneced Methley team. Good luck to Methley in the final from all at Fev lions  Tries
